Want to learn to sew but don’t know your seam ripper from your stay tape? Join us on our 4 week introduction to sewing where you will learn to make a simple tote with a zip closure and a buttoned pocket.
On this skills based course we will walk you through the basics of sewing to give you the confidence and skills to sew independently.
You will learn:
- Week 1: Different types of fabric and what they can be used for. How to cut your fabric using some simple measurements
- Week 2: Different ways to finish seams and how to make bag handles and a pocket
- Week 3: How to insert a zip and we will show you different types of zips and how they are applied.
- Week 4: Buttonholes – How to make buttonholes on the sewing machine and how to finish your bag
What’s included in your course:
- Use of a sewing machine
- Tutoring
- Free tote bag pattern
You will need to purchase 0.6m of fabric and a zip but we have a great stock of both you can choose from on the day.
Please note this is a four week course that runs for for consecutive weeks. Mon 4, 11 18, 25 September (7pm – 9pm each week).
