It may have taken me a couple of days to recover, but the Sewcialite Soiree was well worth it!
We had such a wonderful time and I thought I’d share a little run down and some pictures here.
After a lovely afternoon tea at The Bristol Hotel, where attendees could get to know each other before the main event, everyone headed off to get glammed up for the evening.
We held the Soiree at the Mecure Bristol Grand Hotel. The room was stunning and had a lovely art deco feel to it. We decorated it using Helium Balloons from a local company and it just made the venue look magical.
We hired a photobooth from Booth Nineteen to help people capture the night and I don’t think it was left empty all night! It was lovely to see everyone’s snaps on Instagram the next day.
The music was provided by Mr Like Sew Amazing himself, Alex Taylor! He did such a fab job of keeping everyone dancing, with a mix of live music and DJing. I even got up and sang a couple of songs with him, which was hugely nerve-wracking as I had never sung in front of my sewing friends before!
We really wanted to give people a good experience where they felt welcomed and not excluded at all, so we made sure no-one was on their own. We also wanted to provide great goody bags and prizes.
We had the most generous sponsors so were able to give away a grand prize of a Husqvarna Viking 100Q sewing machine, as well as lots of vouchers.
We must give a massive thank you to our sponsors:
- Prym
- Minerva Crafts
- Husqvarna
- Tilly and the Buttons
- Girl Charlie
- Sew Essential
- Pink Coat Club
- Sew Me Sunshine
- Like Sew Amazing
- Sodbury Sewing School
and a big thank you to The Crafty Sue for providing some much coveted sewing tote bags from Joanns!
We had lovely canapes and welcome drinks to begin with and then the dancing got started! We also had a mid evening refuel by way of some bacon rolls!
I was so impressed with the effort that everyone had gone to with their handmade outfits – everyone was so glam!
I must give a big shout out to my fellow organisers, Rachel, Nikki and Jen! It was hard work, but so worth it! We are already in talks for next year’s event!
I will be writing a blog post about my outfit when I get a chance to get some more detailed photos, so stay tuned for that!
Thanks again to everyone who made the event a roaring success!!
